How do I measure a room?Floors, walls and ceilings have different areas.+
- Record the length, width and height of each room. Floor and flat ceiling area: length × width.
- Wall area: 2 × (length + width) × height, minus measured windows and doors. Measure sloping surfaces separately.
- For tiles, specify which walls will be covered. The calculator lets you adjust the quantity for each task.
What belongs in the budget?See the whole project before choosing products.+
- Separate labour, materials, removal and waste disposal. Add travel, parking or equipment hire where needed.
- Enter product prices in the selected country’s currency. Leave unknown prices blank — these items will be marked as unpriced.
- You can choose a contingency of 5%, 10%, 15% or 20%. This is your budget assumption, not a compulsory service surcharge.
How should I plan the work?Coordinate the stages of your renovation.+
- Start with measurements, scope and an assessment of existing surfaces. Order materials once those details are agreed.
- Agree removal and installation changes before closing walls and completing final surfaces.
- Record delivery dates and stage inspections. Allow for drying times and the conditions specified by the chosen manufacturers.
Laminate, PVC or tiles?Choose flooring for the room’s needs.+
- Compare the intended use, installation method, subfloor requirements and compatibility with any underfloor heating.
- Agree the finished floor height at doors and adjoining rooms. List skirting, underlay and levelling separately.
- Confirm cutting allowance for your layout with the supplier. You can adjust the allowance for flooring and tiles in the budget.
What should I plan in a bathroom?Consider layout, installations and finishing.+
- Plan the shower, WC, basin, storage and doors. Measure clear passages and space for opening doors.
- Agree plumbing, drainage, ventilation and waterproofing before pricing. Do not assume these are included in a tiling rate.
- The separate bathroom calculator lets you choose a finish level and review labour and materials separately.
How do I prepare a shopping list?A single list helps coordinate orders and deliveries.+
- Record the product name, dimensions, pack quantity and price. Agree whether you or the contractor will buy it.
- Compare prices in the same units: m², linear metres or items. Check whether VAT and delivery are included.
- Confirm availability before booking dates. Check surplus-return terms and keep the product labels.

Is the calculator result a final price?+
It is an indicative budget based on quantities and unit reference prices. Surface condition, access and details may change the cost. We prepare the final quotation after agreeing the scope.
How does hourly billing work?+
The MGS-BUD hourly rate is agreed individually according to the work involved. You can enter your own rate in the calculator for a simulation. Materials, VAT, transport and other extras are agreed separately.
How do I enter wall area?+
Enter each room’s length, width and height. The calculator uses perimeter × height for walls and subtracts the window and door area you enter. Adjust work quantities for partial surfaces or sloping ceilings.
Do you renovate complete bathrooms?+
Yes, the scope is agreed for each bathroom. The calculator covers selected tasks such as tiling and sanitaryware fitting. A full renovation with removal, installations and waterproofing needs a separate quotation.
How does the business insurance work?+
Before work begins, we confirm the business insurance coverage and terms. The policy sets out the details, limits and exclusions.
Does the work come with a warranty?+
Yes. We set out the warranty duration, scope and terms in the contract before the renovation begins. We also agree how to report any defects.
